Vowel Sorting
Variations of an activity for practicing the /θ/ sound.
- Students ask and answer questions about the people in the family, such as "Who is Agatha's mother?" or "How many children do Jonathan and Cynthia have?
- Since this version has pictures of the people, students can also tell stories about the family. For example, "Agatha and Theodore were very disappointed that their daughter, Ruth, turned out to be a hippie...."
- Information gap: There are two versions of the family tree, with some names replaced by lines. Students work in pairs. One partner has the "A" handout and the other has "B." They ask each other questions to find the names of the other family members. (Be sure at least one name appears on both the "A" and "B" versions to provide a starting point.)
Weekend Plans: An activity to practice front vowels.
An information gap activity to practice /θ/ and /s/:
A map activity to practice /v/ and /b/:
